Heat pumps for homes, businesses, and industry

Sustainable, future-proof space heating, refreshing cooling in summer, and hot water at all times. Our technologically advanced heat pumps work reliably to provide energy for heating, cooling, and hot water. Whether for new construction or renovation, private, commercial, or industrial use—we have the right heat pump solution for you.

We develop and plan our technology for the future. This means that our heat pumps can also be integrated into your smart home. Control your heat pump easily via the MELCloud Home app, where you can adjust target temperatures and switch operating modes, for example. The cross-system compatibility of MELCloud is particularly practical, allowing you to control your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning centrally with a single app at any time. All our heat pumps are also smart grid-compatible.

Different requirements call for flexible solutions. That's why our range of products is designed to meet a wide variety of needs and applications. Air-to-air, air-to-water, brine, or large heat pumps and cascades—at Mitsubishi Electric, we have the right solution even for highly complex requirements.
Highest performance for monoblock and split systems, for both monovalent and bivalent applications: Your expert partner will advise you on exactly which heat pump solution is right for your project.

How does a heat pump work?

Function

The heat pump principle

The way a heat pump works is often compared to the reverse principle of a refrigerator. While a refrigerator extracts heat energy from its interior and transfers it to the outside, a heat pump does the opposite: it extracts free heat energy from the environment and transfers it to water. This water is then used for heating, for example in underfloor heating systems or for hot water production. In the case of air/water heat pumps, this is the outside air – which works even at low outside temperatures. Even more efficient is the use of heat energy from the ground (brine/water heat pump, also known as a geothermal heat pump). You can find out more in the FAQ "How does a heat pump work?".

Advantages of heat pumps

benefits

What are the advantages of a heat pump?

Key advantages of a heat pump: Heat pumps do not involve any combustion process, meaning that no fossil fuels are required. Air, water, and geothermal energy are virtually inexhaustible sources of heat, and when combined with green electricity, heat pumps are particularly environmentally friendly.

Heat pumps can also be used not only for heating, but also for hot water production and even cooling. Thanks to government subsidies, you can get back up to 70 % of your investment.

Private & Commercial

Ecodan: Quick and easy.

Ecodan air source heat pumps offer a tailor-made, fully-fledged heating solution for almost any situation in the private sector, for example in single-family or two-family homes, or in the commercial sector, enabling quick and easy heating. They always consist of a perfectly matched outdoor and indoor unit. This allows the heat and hot water supply to be tailored efficiently to individual needs—and in many cases even to provide cooling in summer.

Geodan: Particularly efficient.

The major advantage of a geothermal heat pump is its efficiency: it utilizes the constant temperature of the earth and at the same time offers the advantage of space-saving installation, as it only needs to be positioned inside the building. With the Geodan geothermal heat pump from Mitsubishi Electric, the technology leader in inverter technology, you benefit from a highly efficient system. Specially developed for single-family homes, the Geodan heat pump can be flexibly planned and installed. It delivers heat precisely where it is needed and is extremely quiet in operation.

Air-to-air heat pumps

Residential buildings & commercial properties

Heating with air conditioning systems.

In heating mode, the refrigeration cycle of a split air conditioner is reversed and the air conditioner operates as a heat pump. Heat is extracted from the outside air and released back into the room at the indoor unit. This is why reversible air conditioners are also called air-to-air heat pumps. Our M Series air conditioners for your home and Mr. Slim Series for medium-sized commercial spaces can be conveniently used for heating during the transition period. With our City Multi VRF and City Multi Hybrid VRF systems, you can even cool or heat complex buildings simultaneously.

We now have almost a century of knowledge and experience with air-to-air systems. For more than 90 years, our company has been setting new standards in air conditioning technology and has established itself as one of the world's leading manufacturers with an extensive product range. Both our VRF R2 and Zubadan technologies have become brands that are synonymous with high-efficiency technology in the industry.

Large buildings

Ecodan cascade solution: Reliable. Efficient.

Ecodan cascade solutions are available so that the unique advantages of Ecodan heat pumps can also be utilized in large properties with higher heating requirements. Here, several Ecodan air-to-water heat pumps are connected in series to form a cascade. Not only can Ecodan air-to-water heat pumps be cascaded, but also our large-scale heat pumps and hot water heat pumps.

Climaveneta: Heating. Cooling. Hot water.

Our water-cooled systems from Mitsubishi Electric's Climaveneta brand are primarily designed for use in commercial and industrial applications, with rated heat outputs of up to 2.7 MW. This makes them the perfect complement to the Ecodan cascade solution. With a power range from 6.0 to 439 kW, three device series offer convenient solutions for heating, cooling, and, in some cases, domestic hot water preparation.

For particularly high hot water temperatures.

For buildings with high domestic hot water requirements, we offer two innovative solutions: the Mitsubishi Electric QAHV hot water heat pump and the EW-HT series high-temperature heat pump from Climaveneta. Based on different technologies, both heat pump systems generate large quantities of hot water, making them ideal for large buildings with high hot water requirements.

Heat pump subsidies

Attractive subsidies for heat pumps from the BEG

Those who heat with renewable energies are rewarded by the government. Attractive subsidies are available both for new buildings and for replacing your old heating system with a heat pump. The BEG subsidy for individual measures applies only to modernization (in this case, replacing the heating system). There are no longer any subsidies for individual measures in new buildings; here, heat pumps are subsidized as part of the construction of an energy-efficient house. Find out how you can receive a subsidy of up to 70 % of your costs with an Ecodan heat pump.
