Brine/water heat pumps
Highly efficient system for single-family homes
ProduktreiheThe major advantage of a geothermal heat pump is its efficiency: it utilizes the constant temperature of the earth and can be installed in a space-saving manner, as it only needs to be positioned in the house or basement. With the Geodan brine/water heat pump from Mitsubishi Electric, the technology leader in inverter technology, you benefit from a highly efficient system. Specially developed for single-family homes, the Geodan heat pump can be flexibly planned and installed. It delivers heat, hot water and – with an optional cooling module – even passive cooling to the point, and is extremely quiet in operation.
Sustainable heating – becoming independent of oil and gas
How can I heat my home sustainably and at the same time become independent of rising oil and gas prices? This question is more relevant today than ever, as is the issue of security of supply. The answer is: use the free energy from the ground. Geothermal heat pumps can provide this energy for heating and hot water and only require electricity (mainly for the compressor drive) and a system for tapping the heat source. By using green electricity or your own photovoltaic system, you can operate your heating system in a largely climate-neutral and independent manner.
Ideal for new and existing buildings
In new buildings, the heat distribution system can be adapted to the performance characteristics of a geothermal heat pump from the outset. In this case, the Geodan heat pump can also be used in larger single-family homes.
In existing buildings, i.e., older buildings undergoing renovation and modernization, the Geodan heat pump is a reliable and efficient replacement for oil or gas heating systems. But that's not all: a significantly more efficient, latest-generation geothermal heat pump is also the ideal choice for replacing older brine/water heat pumps.
- very high efficiency
- constant temperature of the heat source
- Heat and hot water with just one device
- Can also be used for cooling in summer
- eligible for new buildings and existing buildings
- extremely quiet operation
- No heat pump module outside the building
Advantages of Geodan geothermal heat pumps
benefitsEfficiency thanks to inverters from the technology leader
The refrigerant compressor is the heart of every heat pump. Its efficiency contributes significantly to the cost-effectiveness of the entire system. A compressor with inverter technology is used in the refrigerant circuit of the Geodan heat pump. This allows the heat pump's output to be precisely adjusted to the current heat demand at any given time. The result: optimal use of electrical energy for the heat pump drive and precise heating comfort.
Quiet operation – for greater comfort
Since geothermal heat pumps are installed in the house, a low sound power level, i.e., quiet operation, is an important comfort feature. Targeted sound insulation and a stabilizer plate for the compressor reduce the overall sound power to an extremely low 42 dB(A). This means that even under full load, the Geodan brine/water heat pump is barely audible. The sound power level can be further reduced with the low-noise function, which can be adjusted in three stages.
Subsidy: up to 70% subsidy for Geodan geothermal heat pumps
Heat pumps not only help to reduce heating costs during operation. Significant savings can also be made at the time of purchase – thanks to government subsidies. Whether in new buildings or renovations: those who choose Geodan and have their system planned efficiently will be rewarded with a subsidy of at least 30% of the eligible costs. When completely switching from a fossil fuel-powered boiler or night storage heater, cumulative subsidies of between 5 and 30 percent can be added, depending on the area of application, the type of applicant, and the technology used. The maximum subsidy rate is capped at 70 percent.
Geodan brine/water heat pumps are included in the official list of heat pumps eligible for subsidies from the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA).
Modular design for flexible installation
During the development of the Geodan heat pump, the focus was also on the installation situation. The cooling module is completely removable. This reduces the weight of the heat pump for easier transport. This design also makes maintenance of the system much simpler. And thanks to its low height, installation is possible even with lower ceilings. This also makes installation in existing boiler rooms much easier, for example when replacing an existing system.
Access from anywhere
Turn up the heating on your way home from your fall vacation or check the operating status from your sofa: the free MELCloud app makes this possible. To use it, connect the Mitsubishi Electric WiFi adapter to the heat pump, thereby integrating it into your WiFi network. In addition to classic heating control, it offers you convenient control of the Geodan heat pump via PC, tablet, smartphone, and even Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Guest access can also be assigned to your heat pump specialist. This allows professionals to check remotely whether everything is OK and, if any problems arise, to locate the cause before setting off.
R32 refrigerant with low global warming potential
Geodan heat pumps use the refrigerant R32. Thanks to its positive physical properties, the refrigerant circuit can be operated even more efficiently with the same electrical power. In addition, the refrigerant is already considered sustainable today thanks to its low global warming potential. Furthermore, the Geodan heat pump only requires a refrigerant charge of 0.9 kg. This means it can also be installed in small rooms without additional safety measures.
EU energy label with the highest rating of A+++*
The Energy Labeling Regulation specifies which products must carry energy labels and how energy efficiency ratings are determined. This is intended to make it easier for consumers to compare products. In the case of heat pumps, the advantage over fossil fuel heating systems is immediately apparent: Geodan heat pumps have been awarded the top rating of A+++ (*energy efficiency classes from A+++ to D).
Smart grid ready
The control technology of the Geodan heat pump is designed for integration into a smart grid. It therefore meets the requirements of the SG-Ready label (Smart Grid Ready) and will be able to take advantage of the benefits of integration into smart grids in the future. For example, it will be able to respond flexibly to time slots with cheaper electricity tariffs and store heat in a targeted manner during these phases.
How do geothermal heat pumps work?
FunctionSustainable with depth
Geothermal heat pumps based on the brine/water principle consist of only one indoor module. It is installed in the building (usually in the basement) and connected to a ground collector. This collector is laid underground at a shallow depth (approx. 1.5 m). As an alternative to the collector, which requires a large area, the energy can also be extracted using geothermal probes. In this case, depending on the possible extraction capacity, 2 to 3 boreholes are drilled to a depth of 80 to 100 meters. The refrigerant circulates in a closed circuit through the collector or deep probes, extracting energy from the ground. In the heat pump unit, this energy is brought to a level suitable for space heating in the actual heat pump process and then transferred to the heat distribution system.
