What are Modbus adapters in heat pumps?

The heat pump system is integrated into the superordinate building management system with the help of the Modbus or MelcoEcodan Smart Control adapter.

The adapters are connected to the storage or hydraulic module of an individual system or to a heat pump cascade and act as an external interface to the building management system.

The Modbus adapter can be used to connect the heat pump system to a house management system, for example. This means that the output of the air-to-water heat pump can be immediately adjusted in line with the current heat demand while taking into account the building requirements.

The universal communication adapter MelcoEcodan Smart Control enables remote control of an Ecodan heat pump or cascade via a superordinate control system. The most important functions of the heat pump (on/off, heating/cooling switchover, setpoint for room or flow) can be operated very easily via the building management system, depending on the system configuration.
