Close control units in the laboratory
For constant ambient conditions
Professional article 01.08.2023The air conditioning of laboratories must meet the highest standards: For the stability testing of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or foodstuffs, the conditions must be in accordance with ISO/IEC 1702. Even slight changes in the ambient conditions can affect the final results of test series. Ambient conditions such as temperature and humidity must therefore be continuously monitored and controlled.
In addition, the measuring devices must not be affected and the waste heat from the devices must be dissipated. The i-MTR2-G02-M0 close control units is the right choice for the highest temperature and relative humidity requirements in the room.
At a glance
- Infinitely variable power control from 0 to 100
- Constant room temperature condition (+/- 0.3 °C)
- Constant relative humidity in the room (+/- 2 % RH)
- even with low or no load reduction
Why constant ambient conditions are so important in laboratories
Laboratory air conditioningQuality assurance
Quality assurance is an important issue for all laboratories: to ensure that a laboratory delivers correct and precise results with its analyses, constant environmental conditions must allow comparability. The laboratory must determine and specify limit values for the reference temperature as well as the temporal and spatial gradients and humidity for relevant rooms (e.g. test rooms, calibration rooms, sample storage). If the ambient conditions are outside the specified ranges, tests must be aborted.
Measuring devices
With regard to the measuring devices, it must also be ensured that the ambient conditions do not impair the required test quality. This means that measuring devices must be operated within the manufacturer's specifications in terms of humidity and temperature. In addition, constant conditions in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation ensure the longevity of the expensive measuring devices.
Advantages of the i-MTR2-G02-M0 close control units
Thanks to continuous adjustment of the compressor output, hot gas reheating and steam generation, the i-MTR2-G02-M0 enables precise adjustment of the temperature and humidity.
In contrast to classic precision climate chambers, the i-MTR2-G02-M0 is designed in such a way that the temperature and humidity values in the room can be kept constant within a very narrow range, even with minimal load requirements. This is guaranteed even if no internal loads need to be dissipated. The specially adapted software of the EVOLUTION+ controller allows the cooling capacity to be continuously reduced from 100% to 0%. In combination with the precise control for steam humidification, constant temperature and humidity conditions can be ensured.
Ideal test conditions:
- Constant room temperature condition (+/- 0.3 °C)
- and constant relative humidity in the room (+/- 2 % RH)

What makes the i-MTR2-G02-M0 so precise?
Laboratory air conditioning
The i-MTR2-G02-M0 was designed as a completely independent system with just one refrigerant circuit. Two electronic control valves in the hot gas line distribute the capacity to the condenser and the hot gas reheater depending on the load requirement. The electronic control also ensures maximum reliability, efficiency and optimum control of all parameters .
Operating conditions such as temperature, humidity and air flow rate can be set and changed as required via the user-friendly touch display (optional). The display also offers simple, visualized alarm and event management with real-time data.
When using our self-developed KIPlink technology, a display on the device is not required. Instead, the device can be operated and analyzed directly via a mobile device such as a smartphone, tablet or notebook.
By connecting to a building management system, all operating variables can also be monitored remotely and the temperature and humidity in the room can be recorded. In addition, set values can be changed and the device can be switched on and off as required.
In the event of a fault message, a black box for fault analysis of up to 200 recorded events provides useful information on the operating status during the alarm. This provides additional safety and control.
All advantages for laboratories
Summary- Constant air and humidity conditions in the room, even without load reduction
- High reliability thanks to continuous power adjustment without switch-on and switch-off cycles
- Focus on laboratory work - central electronic control for reliable setting, monitoring and control of ambient conditions
Modern technology for critical applications
Culture & Education
Museums
Whether valuable paintings, old parchment scrolls or antique ceramics: museums store sensitive cultural assets that need to be preserved at individual, constant temperatures and humidity levels.
Archives and libraries
Archives and libraries store not only old documents and books, but also newer media such as films and magnetic tapes. Different, constant climate conditions must prevail for all materials.
