Air conditioning without draughts - the 3D i-see sensor
Smart room detection. Automated airflow control. Intelligent air conditioning
Blog article 29.08.2025Relaxing in a cool home without any draughts - Mitsubishi air conditioners make it easy. The reason for this: smart technology and smart functions in the appliances. All our air conditioners offer options to conveniently control the air flow. Some of our air conditioners even have intelligent technology on board: a sensor that tells our air conditioners exactly how many people are in the room and where they are. This allows the airflow to be precisely oriented to the people in the room - either towards or away from them, as required. Why do we put so much research and technology into these comfort functions? Quite clearly, draughts are an overriding issue for many of our customers.
Draughts are mainly known from fans: where cool air is blown out and hits the skin, an unpleasant cold sensation can occur after a while.
If a fan is used in the bedroom, in rare cases it can sometimes even cause a summer cold. For example, if the cool air dries out the mucous membranes over a long period of time or even lowers the body temperature, weakening the immune system.
- Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners cool draught-free
- 3D i-see sensor: The air flow can be controlled automatically by detecting people in the room
- Heat control can also be set automatically exactly according to your preferences
Intelligent air control: air conditioning without draughts
Draught-freeMitsubishi Electric air conditioning systems offer various technologies to prevent such effects from occurring in the first place. For example, the horizontal airflow: here the cooled air is distributed along the ceiling in the room (horizontal swing). As a result, people in the room do not feel the airflow directly, but the cooled air slowly descends in the room. Some models with the 3D i-see sensor also offer a particularly innovative way of intelligently controlling the airflow.
The innovative 3D i-see sensor in your Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning system controls the air flow according to your preferences. It automatically detects how many people are in the room and determines where they are in the room. This allows the air conditioning system to direct the air flow precisely - so that no one in the room is exposed to the cool air flow from the air conditioning system. However, the reverse is also possible if required: the air conditioning system can also direct the airflow towards the people in the room if direct refreshment is required.

Three-dimensional temperature profile for maximum comfort
The 3D i-see sensor is an additional installation unit on the air conditioning system. It scans the room from left to right and regularly analyzes the temperature profile of the room. There is a lot of technology in this small unit: 752 temperature points are detected when scanning the three-dimensional room. This enables the air conditioning system to recognize exactly where colder and warmer areas are in the room.
The sensor uses this to create a three-dimensional temperature profile - and also recognizes all the people in the room during the temperature scan. This allows the air flow to be controlled automatically and precisely. If the room is empty, the 3D i-see sensor also recognizes this and adjusts the room temperature or sets the air conditioning system to energy-saving mode.
Intelligent thermal air control
Comfort functionsMany Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning units not only cool your rooms in summer - they also warm them up during the transitional period. Here, too, we have solutions that ensure your individual feel-good climate. For example, the MFZ-KT chest unit can adjust the warm air flow to your individual needs using the Multiflow Vane function. In heating mode, the warm air is discharged from two directions to warm up the room quickly, and air conditioning units with 3D i-see sensor are also able to heat just as intelligently as they cool. The warm air flow can either be directed towards people in the room or controlled so that the warm air does not directly hit people. One of the most convenient air conditioning technologies from Mitsubishi Electric.
Wall or ceiling installation: differences in the air control of air conditioning systems
Wall-mounted air conditioning units are usually used in private homes, as the ceiling height required for ceiling cassettes is often not available in detached houses. The situation is somewhat different in doctors' surgeries, offices or other commercial facilities: Ceiling cassettes are often preferred here. So how does airflow control differ between wall and ceiling installations?
In fact, there are no significant differences. Air conditioning units that are installed in the ceiling are also able to guide the air flow along the ceiling to cool the room without draughts. Individual setting options are available depending on the appliance. For example, many of our appliances have the "wide & long" comfort function, which directs the airflow up to twelve meters through the room and can therefore fully air-condition even very large rooms - draught-free.
Avoid draughts with our air conditioning systems
Summary- The horizontal air flow guides the cool air along the ceiling. It sinks evenly into the room. This prevents direct contact with the air flow from the air conditioning unit.
- Some Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning systems are also equipped with a 3D i-see sensor. This recognizes people in the room and can independently control the air flow precisely according to your preferences.
- Depending on the air conditioning system, certain functions (e.g. "wide & long") also cool particularly large rooms without draughts.
