28.04.2026 - Mitsubishi Electric Expands Its City Multi R32 VRF Product Portfolio
New Generation of YXM
Press InformationNew regulatory requirements, increasing efficiency targets, and complex project structures call for solutions that deliver long-term value. With the new R32 City Multi VRF YXM generation, we are introducing a completely redesigned R32 VRF solution that offers designers, specialist partners, and operators greater efficiency, flexibility, and planning reliability.
Wide range of cooling capacities from 22.4 kW to 112 kW
The new YXM series includes outdoor units for the Y Series (heating or cooling) and for the R2 Series for simultaneous heating and cooling, each available as a standard (M) and premium (EM) model. The individual modules cover a capacity range from 22.4 to 56 kW; when combined, capacities of up to 112 kW can be achieved, depending on the project and design. The patented Vertical Flat Tube (VFT) heat exchanger, a newly developed fan with flow-optimized blade geometry, and highly efficient compressors form the basis for the increased seasonal efficiency.

A more compact footprint and optimized installation
Display AreaKey performance metrics have also been improved in terms of installation: Depending on the size, the modules require less floor space (approx. 0.67 m² for sizes 200–300 and 0.89 m² for sizes 350–500) and allow for greater elevation differences of up to 113 m. A four-stage quiet mode
(85 %, 70 %, 60 %, 50 %) ensures quiet operation. In heating mode, ambient temperatures as low as –25 °C are possible, depending on the model; in cooling mode, operation is possible up to 52 °C.
The robust, space-saving, and quiet design allows for a wide range of installation options and, thanks to long cable lengths and a flexible system configuration, offers a high degree of design freedom.
Greater energy efficiency and improved serviceability
A Holistic Approach to SecuritySafety has been addressed holistically: The YXM systems meet the requirements of IEC 60335-2-40 (Ed. 7). Depending on the project, networked safety components are available - including indoor units with integrated leak sensors, shut-off valve units for Y-systems, and BC controllers with integrated shut-off valves for R2-systems. For applications in accordance with EN 378, sensor and alarm units as well as an independent power supply for the safety devices can be provided. In the event of a leak, an audible and visual alarm is triggered. The affected indoor units are shut off, while the remaining indoor units can continue to operate.
The patented flat-tube heat exchanger (VFT) optimizes refrigerant distribution, thereby increasing efficiency and improving liquid drainage thanks to its angled fins.
Greater Design Flexibility for Flexible Projects
The YXM also offers additional flexibility for system design: The official total capacity of the connectable indoor units is up to 200% of the outdoor unit’s capacity. “The new City Multi VRF YXM generation combines efficiency, a wide range of capacities, and design flexibility. It provides the technical foundation that enables planners, specialist partners, and operators to implement their projects reliably, scalably, and in compliance with standards,” explains Michael Lechte, Product Marketing Manager at Mitsubishi Electric, Living Environment Systems. Those interested can find further information on the web portal, in the comprehensive product brochure, and in the new 2026/2027 HVAC catalog.
The new blade designs reduce airflow turbulence, improve airflow, and ensure quieter and more efficient operation.
Abstract
Abstract
We are expanding our City Multi portfolio with the new R32 VRF YXM generation. The series covers module sizes ranging from 200 to 500 and can be combined in units of up to 1,000, depending on the project. Highlights include the patented VFT heat exchanger, a newly developed fan, higher seasonal efficiency, an extended operating temperature range down to –25 °C (heating) and up to 52 °C (cooling), greater elevation differences (up to 113 m), an official connection capacity of up to 200%, and comprehensive, standards-compliant safety measures (in accordance with IEC 60335-2-40 Ed. 7 and EN 378). Interested parties can find detailed information on the web portal, in the comprehensive product brochure, and in the new 2026 HVAC and Ventilation Catalog.
